Interio profiles are compact records of public business information. They are designed for discovery and initial comparison, not as endorsements or substitutes for due diligence.
Minimum inclusion evidence
A published professional needs an official business source that supports:
- its public name;
- a Mumbai office or an explicit statement that it serves Mumbai;
- at least one relevant interior, architecture, lighting or execution service;
- enough descriptive information to distinguish its practice;
- a direct contact or official website path;
- a visual and alt description that can be attributed to the official source.
An Instagram account may help discover a practice, but social media alone is normally insufficient for material business claims.
What Interio records
The central profile record separates:
- category: designer, architect, lighting specialist or contractor;
- office locality and city;
- published services;
- published project sectors;
- principal or founder, when officially identified;
- concise source-based summary;
- source URL and review date.
The same record feeds the profile, main directory, category hub and any qualifying sector or locality page. A separate landing page cannot add a claim that is absent from the central evidence record.
The luxury interior shortlist applies a second evidence gate: an included practice must already have a source-backed Mumbai profile and must explicitly publish luxury, high-end or directly equivalent positioning. Photography, materials or client prominence alone do not qualify a record.
The restaurant interior shortlist uses explicit first-party sector evidence. An included Mumbai practice must publish a restaurant or cafe service or project; a generic commercial or hospitality label alone does not qualify it. Inclusion records relevant experience, not design quality, operational performance, approval responsibility or current availability.
The retail interior shortlist likewise requires an explicit store, boutique, showroom, retail-rollout or shopping-space service or project. A generic commercial label alone is insufficient, and design practices remain visibly distinct from execution-led fit-out firms.
The hotel interior shortlist requires a named hotel or resort project, an explicit hotel portfolio or an official project range that identifies resort work. Generic hospitality wording alone does not clear the gate. Architecture, interior-design and turnkey-execution records remain visibly distinct because those appointments carry different responsibilities.
The hospital and healthcare shortlist requires an explicit hospital, healthcare or clinic project, portfolio, service or sector claim. The evidence table distinguishes named project records from broader service and sector claims. Inclusion does not establish clinical-planning competence, regulatory responsibility, accreditation expertise, infection-control performance or current capacity; those matters require appointment-specific verification.
The lighting designers and consultants directory retains consultancy, interior-lighting and decorative-product practices on one owner while publishing their different roles. A lighting label does not prove manufacturer independence, technical scope, supply, installation or commissioning; those responsibilities must appear in the official evidence and proposed appointment.
Office location is not service area
Practices in the source-backed Bandra, Andheri, Santacruz, Juhu, Malad, Borivali, Vile Parle, Powai, Lower Parel, Worli and Goregaon directories are recorded as based in the matching locality because their official websites publish a qualifying office. They are not automatically described as serving every nearby locality. A service area is recorded only when a practice publishes it explicitly.
The Thane and Navi Mumbai directories use separate city evidence sets. Inclusion requires a first-party office in the named city; proximity to Mumbai, an unverified map label or a general regional claim does not qualify a record.
This distinction prevents locality pages from being populated through proximity assumptions.
The South Mumbai directory is a disclosed editorial grouping of Fort, Colaba, Mahalaxmi, Lower Parel and Worli office records. It is not an official administrative border, a claimed service area or permission to infer that every included practice serves every property in the grouping.
Categories and overlapping services
The primary category reflects how the practice presents its principal business. Published services and sectors provide additional context. An architecture practice may offer interior design; a contractor may provide design-and-build; a lighting studio may also make products.
These overlaps do not change the primary category merely to populate a directory. Readers should compare the written appointment scope rather than infer capability from a label.
Directory profile gates
Not every generated collection is suitable for search. Current minimums are:
- locality directory: five relevant profiles;
- residential or commercial sector directory: five relevant profiles;
- office directory: four relevant profiles during the current inventory stage;
- main designer hub: eight profiles;
- contractor and turnkey directories: three profiles;
- architect hub: five profiles;
- lighting hub: six profiles.
A page below its gate remains accessible where useful but uses noindex,follow and is excluded from the XML sitemap. Reaching the numeric gate prompts an editorial review; it does not guarantee indexing if the page still lacks distinct value.
Ordering and ranking
Interio currently accepts no paid ranking. Listings are not ordered by quality, rating, popularity, price or an undisclosed commercial score.
Cards and related profiles may be arranged using factual similarity such as shared services, sectors or location. That relationship does not mean one practice is better than another.
How reputation evidence is published
No rating, count, excerpt or sentiment is published unless Interio has verified the external account and can display the source under its current terms.
Each Google or Instagram match is marked as verified, ambiguous or unmatched. A verified match needs strong identity evidence, such as the same official website, an official outbound social link, or matching official business details. An ambiguous match is never shown as belonging to the listed practice.
Google and Instagram evidence remain separate. A Google rating is not an Interio score. An Instagram follower count is not a quality rating. Neither proves workmanship, service, value, availability or fit for a project.
When Google review evidence is available, the profile must show the rating and review count together, identify Google Maps, and preserve the author attribution and direct source link required for each displayed excerpt. Interio does not copy Google ratings or reviews into its own review structured data. The current Google Places display policy controls that use.
An Instagram handle is shown only after an entity match. A current follower count needs authorized access through Meta’s Instagram Business Discovery route. Interio does not scrape login-gated pages or treat public media counts as comment sentiment.
Any sentiment summary must state its source, sample size, retrieval time, freshness and confidence. Google and Instagram sentiment are labelled separately before any combined assessment. Automated sentiment can miss context and nuance, so recurring positives and concerns are evidence summaries rather than verdicts.
If a source is missing, ambiguous, undated or stale, the profile shows an unavailable state. A failed refresh does not justify keeping an old number visible. The absence of verified review data is not a positive or negative assessment of the practice.
Verification limits
“Source-backed” means the displayed fact was checked against an identified public source. It does not mean Interio audited the business, visited a project, verified every credential, confirmed current availability or guaranteed a result.
Where registration matters, such as use of the title architect in India, readers should use the relevant official register and obtain project-specific advice.
Review, correction and removal
Every profile displays its latest source-check date. Sources enter a review queue after 75 days and become overdue after 120 days. A stale or unavailable source must be rechecked, replaced or the affected claim removed.
Professionals and readers can submit a correction, claim or removal request through Interio’s contact process. Evidence is evaluated using the same standard regardless of whether the requester is listed.
